Responsibilities & Context:

Role Purpose

The Homeroom Teacher is the lead of a particular class, responsible not only for delivering lessons but also for managing the holistic development, discipline, and welfare of all students in that class. They act as the primary liaison between students, parents, and the school administration for their class.

Class Leadership & Management

  • Act as the overall leader of the class, ensuring discipline, punctuality, and a positive learning environment.

  • Maintain daily attendance records and monitor student punctuality.

  • Ensure classroom cleanliness, seating arrangements, and resource management.

Parent Liaison

  • Serve as the first point of contact for parents regarding student progress, behavior, and welfare.

  • Organize and lead parent meetings specific to the class.

  • Provide regular updates to parents on academic and non‑academic matters.

Student Welfare & Mentorship

  • Monitor the emotional, social, and behavioral development of students in the class.

  • Identify students needing special support and coordinate with the Coordinator for interventions.

  • Act as a mentor, guiding students in personal responsibility, Islamic values, and school culture.

Class Records & Documentation

  • Maintain comprehensive records of student performance, attendance, health notes, and disciplinary actions.

  • Prepare consolidated reports for the coordinator on the overall progress of the class.

Event & Activity Coordination

  • Lead the class in school events, competitions, and extracurricular activities.

  • Ensure class participation in cultural, religious, and academic programs.

  • Organize class‑level projects, exhibitions, or presentations.

Safeguarding & Discipline

  • Implement safeguarding policies within the class.

  • Handle minor disciplinary issues directly and escalate serious concerns to the Coordinator.

  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for all students.

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with subject schemes of work.

  • Use appropriate teaching methods, resources, and educational technology.

  • Submit weekly lesson plans and supporting materials to the Coordinator.

  • Incorporate feedback from the Coordinator and make necessary adjustments.

  • Mark and monitor classwork and homework, providing constructive feedback.

  • Prepare exam questions, mark scripts, and maintain accurate mark registers.

  • Ensure classroom discipline and report behavioral issues to the Coordinator.

Student Progress & Reporting

  • Keep parents and line managers informed about student progress and concerns.

  • Maintain all academic deadlines and ensure timely submission of reports.

  • Support students with diverse learning needs, arranging remedial or enrichment activities.

School Duties & Collaboration

  • Carry out playground supervision and other duties assigned by the Coordinator.

  • Lead the class team in implementing behavior policies and individual student plans.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

  • Contribute actively to extracurricular activities and school functions.

  • Attend and support major school events and community programs.

 Professional Conduct

  • Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behavior expected of pupils.

  • Act as a role model in both academic and personal conduct.

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students in line with school policies.
