Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Provide clinical dental care, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of primary oral health conditions (eg. tooth extractions, fillings, scaling, and basic dental surgeries as per protocol).
∎ Ensure infection prevention and control during all procedures by following the guidelines.
∎ Provide awareness sessions to the patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care.
∎ Refer complex dental cases to higher-level facilities following the referral guideline of the health sector.
∎ Maintain proper documentation of patient records and treatments.
∎ Ensure regular maintenance and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment.
∎ Contribute to oral health awareness campaigns in the community when applicable.
∎ Produce weekly and monthly reports and submit them to the PHC Manager.
∎ Supervise and build the capacity of the Dental Assistant.
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
∎ The Dentist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating common dental problems at the primary health care level in the Rohingya refugee context. The role includes conducting oral health assessments, providing basic treatments, and referring complicated cases.
