∎ ICCO Cooperation is a leading INGO working for securing sustainable livelihoods, justice and dignity for all in Bangladesh since 1972. Most of the implemented interventions are focusing on food security, livelihood, WASH and DRR in the geographical areas where the people are at risks of vulnerability and poverty, both with host communities and Rohingya population. The Construction Supervisors will be responsible for the smooth implementation of the schemes in the assigned camps and to ensure the quality of the works. S/he will ensure timely implementation of the project works, following the humanitarian principles and sector guidelines and standard, as well as s/he will take on challenges to ensure a rapid, effective and timely response.
∎ Working Conditions:
∎ Working days from Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week. This position may be required to work some overtime hours.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct field assessment, site planning, supervision and management of construction works;
∎ Ensure work together with WFP Engineering team to deliver quality work within agreed deadlines.
∎ Regular site visits to supervise construction works/processes and providing training to the Cash for Workers as and when required.
∎ Perform equipment, material, and routine site inspections.
∎ Report all health & safety incidents and accidents
∎ Ensure quality work during construction phase that comply with WFP standards.
∎ Perform daily or regular housekeeping in the project working areas.
∎ Reporting daily site diary to his/her line manager considering different constructions records (like, workforce, Consumption of materials)
∎ Construction supervisor shall be responsible to track the schemes' progress, track the consumption and requisition of materials and workforce.
∎ Implement Heath Safety and Environmental plan in accordance with WFP guideline and /or other international standards.
∎ Collect the GPS coordinates of the all sub-projects being implemented.
∎ Consider disaster resilient features, gender sensitivity, inclusive approach as a cross cutting issues during all project phases.
∎ Supervise the assistant construction colleague and volunteers and properly guide them in dealing with the beneficiaries during the implementation of the activities and the cash distribution
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years professional experience in construction or fresh graduate in Civil Engineer.
∎ Knowledge on computer operating system, estimation software and Auto CAD will be a preference.
∎ Excellent coordination and management at the field level.
∎ Able to use phone camera and WhatsApp/ other prescribed tools
∎ Able to collect GPS coordinates
∎ Knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards.
∎ Chittagonian local dialect is a plus.
∎ Willingness to accept frequent field visits. Driving motorbike with valid driving license is an asset.
∎ Other:
∎ Good understanding of basic human rights.
∎ Ability to cope up with work pressure and emergency context.
∎ Ability to foster collaborative, transparent and accountable relationships with local authorities at field level.
