Job Responsibilities:
∎ To ensure that the receiving and processing of material in each relevant section of the laboratory is in accordance with the laid down standard operating procedures (SOP).
∎ To ensure that all the log books are maintained as required by the documentation system.
∎ To perform tests pertaining to internal quality control and report any deviation from expected to the QC Manager/Lab Director and take necessary corrective/preventive action.
∎ To ensure sufficient stock of material is maintained in the laboratory so that the working of the laboratory does not get affected due to shortage of the same.
∎ To check expiry date of reagent as well as on board stability of reagents in the analyzer.
∎ To verify the quality of products before putting them into use in the laboratory as per laid down policy.
∎ To instruct the Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) about the procedure for preparation of standards and other reagents for all biochemistry tests.
∎ To ensure Calibration, Standardization and Maintenance of instruments in accordance with the laid down standard operating procedures (SOP).
∎ To perform validation and reporting results of tests performed.
∎ To report immediately to the Consultant if there is any warning sign in any parameters in Biochemical analysis. Whenever very high or very low results are obtained in the biochemical analysis he should report it to the Consultant before releasing the results.
∎ To write standard operating procedure (SOP) for all instruments which are being used in the clinical chemistry.
∎ To look after the daily maintenance of equipment and maintain all automated, semi-automated and manually operated equipment's in operational order.
∎ To guide, supervise and train the subordinate staff in a manner that the quality of technical work done in the concerned section is maintained even in his/her absence.
∎ To develop new procedures as assigned
∎ To establish safety practices including biohazards, exposure control plan (blood-borne pathogens), and infection control to include universal precautions, hazardous chemicals, and personal hygiene standard.
∎ To promote effective working relationships and work effectively as part of a team and work inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
∎ To participates in external proficiency testing and in continuing education classes to remain updated on changes in laboratory science.
∎ To participate in general and in departmental staff meeting to discuss changes, issues and improvements.
∎ To demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, visitors and research fellow to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
