Job Context:
∎ We are looking for an Assistant Dean- Education and Training for the School.
∎ Purpose: Reporting to the Dean and the Associate Dean of the BRAC JPGSPH, the Assistant Dean for Education and Training supports the School in providing academic and administrative leadership, and policy development and implementation of Masters of Public Health student administrative and support functions, with focus on recruitment and admissions. The Assistant Dean will also be responsible for developing training, reflection and mentorship programs under the CPSD (Centre for Professional Skills Development) along with special projects and//or programs as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Strategic Responsibilities:
∎ Contribute to formulation of JPG's strategy, with a focus on meeting the MPH's strategic goals in the areas of recruitment and admission of a diverse class of students.
∎ Contribute to development of policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations and standards, and the promoting of leading practices and educational excellence.
∎ Oversee the development and management of the MPH and CPSD budgets.
∎ Develop national and international networks in public health education.
∎ Support faculty, students, and training program participants to develop an academically rigorous learning environment and culture.
∎ Manage and mentor staff within the office.
∎ Operational Responsibilities:
∎ Provide leadership for MPH Student Affairs.
∎ Support MPH accreditation processes and its program of continuous quality improvement.
∎ Work with the Dean, Associate Deans and faculty to plan, develop, implement, assess and improve courses, programs and services that support JPG's mission.
∎ Ensure that students and training participants conform to the regulations and policies of JPG.
∎ Oversee coordination and evaluations of academic, training, and field-based study activities.
∎ Identify and provide recommendations to the Dean and Associate Dean regarding new faculty appointments.
∎ MPH Student Affairs and Admissions:
∎ In coordination with the Dean and Associate Dean, manage recruitment and admissions process; provide routine reports to the Dean and Associate Dean and others as requested.
∎ Develop and coordinate School recruitment activities; establish and support pipeline programs to increase the number of qualified applicants to the MPH.
∎ Review and ensure applicants to the MPH meet the minimum requirements necessary for admission.
∎ Ensure the integrity of the admissions process by establishing policies and processes that minimize the risk for conflicts of interest and/or lowering of standards.
∎ Oversee on-boarding and orientation process for accepted students.
∎ Oversee timely preparation and transfer of student grades and records to the registrar's office ensuring compliance with university regulations and policies.
∎ Revive MPH alumni network and make it functional.
∎ Identify resource and strategic step for generating scholarship for MPH students.
∎ CPSD Responsibilities:
∎ Develop and coordinate public health leadership and related training courses.
∎ Develop, implement, and monitor medium and long term strategy planning in consultation with the Dean and Associate Dean. Pay specific attention to ensure long term financial sustainability of the Centre.
∎ Identify new areas for capacity building of key stakeholders in alignment with the vision and mission of JPG.
∎ Coordinate all tasks related to designing and managing training courses including new courses focusing on program management and other emerging priorities within the public health domain, and identification of resource persons both in-country and outside.
∎ Ensure training programs stay continually up to date with public health trends and realities on the ground.
∎ Other Responsibilities:
∎ Work closely with other programs at JPG to support and promote academic and research activities.
∎ Work closely with the communications team to continuously implement a comprehensive international communication, marketing and branding strategy for both the MPH and CPSD in alignment with the vision and strategy of JPG.
∎ Support faculty and staff.
∎ Coordinate with other departments to accomplish all tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
∎ Perform any other tasks assigned by the Dean and her/his line managers.
∎ Administrative & People Management:
∎ In consultation with the Dean and Associate Dean, actively work with Human Resources to recruit and retain high quality faculty and staff.
∎ Manage MPH and CPSD faculty and staff (that directly report to the position) by defining job expectations; plan, monitor, and appraise faculty and staff performance; coach, counsel and actively participate in the departmental employee on-boarding, mentoring and professional development.
∎ Assist in scheduling and assigning faculty and staff workload.
∎ Provide information and prepare reports in due time and as and when needed.
∎ Supervisory Responsibilities:
∎ Provide guidance and mentoring to enhance the capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.
∎ Recommend appropriate training courses as pre-determined training needs, evaluate their effectiveness, and monitor their results.
∎ Carry out regular performance appraisals for team members according to planned schedules and recommend necessary actions as per applied practices.
∎ Conduct periodic meetings with team members to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow runs smoothly.

Additional Requirements:
∎ 10 to 15 years of work experience in managing programs, including bilateral and multilateral donor funded or private sector programs/projects and/or academic and training programs in health and development.
∎ Strong record reflecting excellence in education, management, research, and or administration.
∎ Proven management experience in working collaboratively with faculty members and medicine professionals, strong interpersonal and team building skills, and an understanding of university structure and culture.
∎ Demonstrable ethical behavior, professionalism, interpersonal skills, leadership, and management abilities for effectively directing and developing staff and students.
∎ Strong leadership in managing large projects and budgets.
∎ Demonstrable experience in building and coordinating national and global partnerships.
