Job Responsibilities:
∎ Explain the imaging procedure to the patient, address any concerns or questions, and ensure that the patient is properly positioned and prepared for the examination.
∎ Set up and operate various X-ray machines, including traditional radiography and computed tomography (CT) scanners, to obtain clear and accurate images.
∎ Follow strict safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure for both patients and themselves, including the use of lead aprons, shielding, and collimation.
∎ Ensure that the images produced are of high quality and meet the diagnostic criteria by adjusting the equipment settings and positioning patients correctly.
∎ Use computer software to process and enhance the digital images to improve their clarity and diagnostic value.
∎ Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including documentation of the examination, patient information, and radiation exposure levels.
∎ Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient symptoms and imaging findings. Radiologic technologists may also communicate with patients regarding preliminary results.
∎ Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the imaging area, following infection control protocols to prevent the spread of disease.
∎ Stay updated with the latest advancements in imaging technology and medical imaging techniques through ongoing education and training.
∎ Provide compassionate care to patients, ensuring their comfort and emotional well-being during the imaging process, especially in cases of trauma, pain, or discomfort.
∎ Perform routine maintenance and quality control tests on imaging equipment to ensure it functions correctly and produces consistent, high-quality images.
∎ Adhere to all regulatory and legal requirements related to medical imaging, including patient privacy and safety standards.
