Patient Care & Preparation

• Explaining Procedures: Greeting patients, answering their questions, and explaining the X-ray process to help reduce anxiety.

• Reviewing Orders: Checking physician orders to ensure the correct body parts are imaged and verifying patient medical history or pregnancy status.

• Positioning Patients: Guiding patients into the precise physical positions required and using shielding or immobilization devices to protect unaffected areas from radiation and ensure clear images.

Equipment Operation & Imaging

• Operating Machinery: Setting up, adjusting, and operating radiographic equipment safely according to strict medical and safety guidelines.

• Capturing Quality Images: Ensuring the produced scans have proper contrast, density, and detail so physicians can make accurate diagnoses.

• Routine Maintenance: Performing basic quality control checks, troubleshooting minor equipment malfunctions, and reporting maintenance needs.

Safety & Compliance

• Radiation Protection: Following As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles to minimize radiation exposure for both patients and medical staff.

• Infection Control: Maintaining a clean, sanitized environment, sterilizing equipment between patients, and adhering to hospital hygiene protocols.

• Regulatory Standards: Complying with federal, state, and institutional healthcare guidelines, including HIPAA for patient privacy.

Administrative & Collaboration

• Record Keeping: Logging patient data, updating electronic health records (EHR), and securely filing or transferring digital images to radiologists and physicians.

• Team Communication: Collaborating closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and expedite urgent imaging results.
