Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation & Setup: Operate spinning, twisting, winding, or reeling machines to process fibers. Set up machinery with appropriate settings for fiber type, thickness, and tension.

• Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative maintenance (lubricating, cleaning, replacing needles/parts) and conduct minor repairs to keep machinery running efficiently.

• Quality Control: Monitor production to identify defects in the yarn, such as uneven thickness or tension issues. Inspect finished yarn and ensure it meets production specifications.

• Material Handling: Load raw materials into machines (creeling) and monitor fiber blending, picking, and carding processes.

• Troubleshooting: Identify machine malfunctions, investigate stoppages, and notify supervisors or maintenance mechanics for major repairs.

• Documentation: Record production data, maintenance logs, and lot details in machine charge books.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of textile machinery mechanics, specifically spinning frames or winding machines.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to detect minor defects in yarn quality.

• Physical Stamina: Capability to work on the factory floor, which may involve lifting yarn packages or standing for long periods.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and repair machines quickly to minimize downtime.

• Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with health and safety regulations.

Typical Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is often required; technical school training in textile mechanics is a plus.

• Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or textile environment is preferred, though some positions offer on-the-job training.
