Education:

Must have a Short Course Certificate in Electrical Installation and Maintenance from a recognized technical training institution.

Responsibilities & Context:

1. Perform routine inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, switches, sockets, circuit breakers, distribution boards, lighting systems, and other electrical equipment.

2. Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults and take necessary corrective measures.

3. Maintain electrical systems, generators, motors, pumps, fans, and other electrical appliances as assigned.

4. Inspect and maintain electrical connections, earthing systems, and protective devices to ensure electrical safety.

5. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and service requests from different departments and institutions.

6. Carry out preventive maintenance according to the approved maintenance schedule.

7. Ensure that all electrical work complies with applicable safety standards, technical requirements, and organizational policies.

8. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout or other safe isolation procedures, where applicable.

9. Maintain records of electrical maintenance, repairs, faults, spare parts usage, and related activities.

10. Inform the concerned authority about major electrical faults, damaged equipment, potential hazards, and requirements for spare parts or replacement.

11. Assist in estimating the cost of electrical repairs, preparing material requisitions, and monitoring the use of electrical supplies.

12. Coordinate with external electricians, contractors, and service providers when specialized maintenance is required.

13. Ensure the proper use, storage, and maintenance of electrical tools and equipment.

14. Perform any other electrical maintenance-related duties assigned by the competent authority.
