Responsibilities & Context:

• A garment technician in the ready-made garment industry is responsible for ensuring that garments are designed, produced, and finished to meet quality standards and customer requirements. This involves a range of tasks, from initial sample evaluation to overseeing production and quality control.

• Key responsibilities of a ready-made garment technician include:

• Sample Evaluation and Approval: Reviewing and approving samples (development, fitting, and shipment samples) to ensure they meet specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.

• Pattern and Fit Management: Checking and correcting pattern problems, managing the fit and grading process, and ensuring garments are constructed accurately.

• Quality Control: Developing and implementing quality control systems, monitoring fabric and trim performance, and conducting quality evaluations of finished garments.

• Production Process Optimization: Providing technical support to factories, optimizing production processes, and reducing lead times and costs.

• Technical Specifications and Documentation: Creating and maintaining detailed technical specifications, size charts, and fit guidelines.

• Communication and Collaboration: Liaising with designers, buyers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals.

• Problem Solving: Investigating customer complaints and returns, identifying root causes of issues, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.

• Training and Support: Providing training and technical support to factory personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge related to garment construction, quality, and operational capabilities.

• Staying Up-to-Date: Keeping abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to garment technology.

• Budget Management: Ensuring garments can be produced within budget.
