Job Context:
∎ The Feed the Future Bangladesh Agricultural Infrastructure Development Activity is a United States Agency for International Development funded project implemented by PAE, an Amentum company. The Activity seeks to address the infrastructure needs of farmers through investments in rural roads, market centers, collection centers, cold storage facilities, and irrigation systems. By investing in rural infrastructure, the Activity will increase incomes, create jobs, reduce crop losses, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen food security.
∎ The main five objectives of the program are:
∎ Increase access to markets for agricultural produce, inputs, and services by improving transportation of agricultural produce and inputs, while improving the capacity of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to maintain rural roads.
∎ Enhance post-harvest handling and storage of agricultural produce by increasing access to post-harvest handling and storage facilities and improving the operation and maintenance of aggregation and storage facilities.
∎ Improve women`s participation in the markets.
∎ Engage the private sector in order to maximize the impact of the Activity.
∎ Build operation and maintenance capacity at the markets.
∎ POSITION: PAE/Amentum seek a full-time Structural Engineer. The Structural Engineer shall work in PAE/Amentum`s office in Dhaka, with occasional travel to job sites (Faridpur) to obtain or verify measurements and other relevant information. His/her responsibilities include collaborating with engineers and other professionals to clarify design specifications, producing detailed engineering designs for the Activity`s several construction projects and checking design accuracy and adherence to standards. The Structural Engineer will complete all work as directed by PAE/Amentum`s Design Manager.
∎ DURATION: PAE/Amentum seek a full-time Structural Engineer with immediate availability through November 2024.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Structural Engineer's responsibilities include:
∎ Structural analysis and designing of infrastructure of several projects which include construction of buildings, rural market sheds, collection centers including electrical and plumbing and market open spaces, internal roads and drains, rural roads and culverts, retaining walls/palisading works, etc. under the direction and supervision of the Design Manager.
∎ Study of the Activity's Standard Designs, Gender Analysis, EMMP framework, design codes and specifications, LGED's Road Design Standards, technical specifications, updated schedule of rates, and other relevant documents as needed to incorporate into designs.
∎ Support site selection process and work with the Architect/CAD Operator/Estimator if required to develop preliminary design drawings and parametric cost estimates for the project feasibility assessment reports. Support the Dhaka Ahsania Mission team to develop preliminary land requirement schedule for project interventions.
∎ Prepare terms of reference (TORs) for survey firm, review survey reports, and recommend actions to the Design Manager.
∎ Assist the Environmental Specialist in developing environmental monitoring and mitigation plans for infrastructure design that aim to mitigate impact of designs on the environment based on the Activity's Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan.
∎ Based on architectural designs (if any), develop plans, sections, elevations and detailed construction drawings and detailing including notes, bar bending schedules, etc. for the project interventions.
∎ Perform structural design studies of the proposed infrastructure and determine the most suitable and economic design for the infrastructure. Prepare design reports with design calculations as required.
∎ Prepare technical specifications for construction works.
∎ Assist in preparing cost estimates, BOQs, and material specifications for the works.
∎ Assist the CAD Operator with the preparation of the detailed structural design drawings and checking the detailed drawings.
∎ Assist the construction subcontractor with preparing the shop drawings and the as built drawings.
∎ Respond to comments from the Amentum home office independent design review team and USAID/GP tech comments on detailed designs.
∎ Complete other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Proficient use of design software such as STAAD, ETABS, etc. for structure design and AutoCAD for drawing.
∎ Working knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
∎ English language skills, both written and verbal required.
∎ Only Bangladeshi national can apply.
∎ Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Compensation will be determined based on experience. The selected candidate will be entitled to 11 floating holidays per year, 14 sick leave days, and 15 paid vacation days. They will also receive two festival bonuses equal to one month's salary each per full year worked.
