Responsibilities & Context:
∎ • Oversee civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget.
∎ • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
∎ • Prepare and review project schedules, budgets, and other necessary documents.
∎ • Ensure all project activities comply with health and safety regulations.
∎ • Review and approve designs, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects.
∎ • Collaborate with architects, urban planners, and other engineers to develop project plans.
∎ • Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.
∎ • Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to evaluate potential challenges or opportunities.
∎ • Supervise on-site activities and ensure that construction work is performed in compliance with engineering designs and specifications.
∎ • Monitor construction progress and quality standards to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
∎ • Prepare project cost estimates and ensure that the project remains within financial constraints.
∎ • Approve procurement of materials and equipment and monitor their use on-site.
∎ • Ensure that any issues or conflicts are resolved in a timely manner to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
∎ • Manage unexpected situations like design changes or unforeseen conditions at the construction site.
∎ • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation such as project reports, progress reports, and permit applications.
∎ • Regularly update senior management on project status, risks, and issues.
∎ • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and maintain proper records for audits. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and ensure efficient collaboration among departments.
∎ • Liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
∎ • Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
∎ • Ensure that the project complies with environmental standards and sustainable construction practices.
∎ • Implement strategies to reduce the environmental impact of the project, such as energy-efficient designs or waste reduction.
∎ • Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and other relevant regulations.
∎ • Keep up to date with changes in the civil engineering industry, including regulations and safety standards.
