The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Driver to transport staff on duty when required, be responsible for vehicle maintenance, repair, registration, insurance and other paperwork. This position is based in Dhaka & may require occasional travel within Bangladesh. This position reports to the Head of Business Solutions.

 The role is based in Dhaka, but will provide support nationally, including travelling to each of IJM’s future program locations (Khulna, Barisal and Mymensingh).

Responsibilities:

Clerical and Administration:

·       Cater to vehicle request for all visitors and ensure safe transportation in line with security measures.

·       Maintain office vehicles by ensuring timely servicing and vehicle cleanliness daily.

·       Proactively make provisions for medical kits, chargers and any other requirements in the vehicle.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:

·       Ensure vehicle logbooks are maintained regularly with accuracy, which includes trip location, passengers, starting and ending kilometers and total kilometers.

·       Keep detailed records of vehicles maintenance status.

·       Write detailed reports after trips when necessary.

Fieldwork Projects:

 ·       Assist in purchase of food & snacks for the team during journeys and operation.

·       Drive staff on all operations and meetings and other places as directed by the National Head of Business Solutions.

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance:

 ·       Maintain details of insurance & inventory for the vehicles and payments.

Networking & Partnership:

 ·       Support Partnerships team to ensure their deliverables are met, within the administrative purview.

Policies and Procedures:

·       Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.

General Tasks:

·       Carry out additional assignments at the request of the National Head of Business Solutions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

·       The applicant should have a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in any stream

·       Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Bangla & English

·       Relevant experience of at least 5 years in the field

Technical Competencies:   

·       Self-motivated, articulate and able to manage multiple tasks.

·       Works well under stress.

·       Should be able to use GPS

·       Should know how to read maps

·       Works well under stress and sustained positive attitude.

·       Strong ethic of service and a passion for IJM’s goals.

·       Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
