Job Context:
∎ Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices (Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet Region). CB is currently implementing 89 projects covering 189 Upazilas focusing on six main priorities: i) Social Welfare for Vulnerable Communities (SWVC), ii) Education and Child Development, iii) Nutrition and Health Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Food Security (ECFS), and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.
∎ Caritas Bangladesh (CB), Cox’s Bazar office is looking for a suitable candidate for an immediate appointment of Site Engineer & Project Officer (Engineer) as well as to prepare a panel list for Emergency Response to the Forcibly Displaced People of Myanmar in Bangladesh. Further details on the position including job responsibilities, educational qualification and other qualities /competencies required for the position are provided below:
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare drawing, design, cost estimate and analyze of rates for shelter, site development and other infrastructure construction works.
∎ Prepare of details implementation plan (DIP) of the relevant project.
∎ Responsible for the timely and effective implementation Shelter and settlement related activities of projects
∎ Experiences in working with community led approach.
∎ Communicate with SMS for hiring laborers and implementation of project activities.
∎ Support to the supervisors in survey of ongoing projects.
∎ Follow up the progress and quality of project implementation activities of the assigned projects.
∎ Undertake field visits daily basis to supervise and monitor the projects specially for the better implementation of projects and submission of field visit report regularly.
∎ Knowledge of local language will be given preference.
∎ Should be able to handle multiple tasks and manage priorities.
∎ Responsible for relevant camp level stakeholder coordination like CIC, CMO, CMA, Partners etc.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ 3-4 years of proven experience including minimum 2 years in the similar job in any NGO/INGOs, Preferred Emergency humanitarian Response SNFI sector experience preferred.
∎ Proven experience working in emergency setting and have extensive knowledge of the Rohingya and local culture and context.
∎ Substantial experience in designing, monitoring and evaluation of shelter related projects.
∎ Mid-level skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with refugees, local communities, partner staff and policy makers.
∎ Ability to engage with local and refugee communities.
∎ An influential communicator, with written and verbal skills in English and Bangla (Preferred) for camp level stakeholder communication purposes.
∎ Committed to work following organizational objectives, values, principles and policies.
∎ Have good knowledge on safeguarding related policies, GBV, Child protection policy and other relevant policy.
Salary:
∎ 60000- 70000 BDT per month (Negotiable).
