∎ Age 24 to 40 years
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Maintain patient records.
∎ Responsibilities include monitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management, medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central line care, Swan-Ganz catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient's status.
∎ Prepare and administer (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) prescribed medications.
∎ Provide basic bedside care including dressing changes, catheter care, assisting the patient with moving, and taking vital signs.
∎ Monitor patients for subtle or sudden changes in ventilation, renal, and cardiac status.
∎ Report adverse reactions to treatments or medication.
∎ Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess a patient's condition.
∎ Quickly identify when a patient decompensates and alert the rest of the critical care team.
∎ Initiate corrective action when a patient displays adverse symptoms.
∎ Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgery.
∎ Assist surgeons in major or minor operations.
∎ Maintain standards of nursing care in pre-operative and post-operative planning, implementation and patient care.
∎ Adheres to surgical safety checklist Follow procedure prospectus for all surgeries Prepare the operating room for all emergency and scheduled procedures.
∎ Keep principles of aseptic techniques in performing surgical scrub, setting instruments, gowning, gloving as needed for the procedure.
∎ Assist as a circulatory or scrub nurse.
∎ Monitor and report all vital signs of patient.
∎ Administer oxygen therapy and suctions of secretions if required.
∎ Report any untoward reactions of patient to the surgeon or anesthesiologist.
∎ Carry out all the doctors’ order and directions.
