Education:
∎ B.Sc or Equivalent degree in relevant subject with 6 years’ experience in own field after completion of B.Sc course.
∎ B.Sc in Lab Medicine / Microbiology / Biochemistry will be preferred.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Designing and maintain laboratory tests: Developing and optimizing tests for surveillance projects and outbreaks
∎ Analyzing Specimens: Performing diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids and other specimens
∎ Maintaining equipment: Setting up, calibrating and cleaning medical laboratory equipment
∎ Ensuring quality: Establishing and monitoring quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy of test results.
∎ Supervising staff: Supervising medical technologist and helping to train new staff members
∎ Preparing reports: Compiling results and submitting regular surveillance reports
∎ Assisting with investigations: Assisting in outbreak investigations and preparing for department inspections.
∎ Performing risk assessment: Performing risk assessments of laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
∎ Inventory Management: Oversee inventory management such as selecting, purchasing, storing and allocating of laboratory equipment, supplies and data analysis tools
∎ To follow agreed protocols and policies seeking advice where appropriate from Clinical/Laboratory Director
∎ To ensure that clinical requests are met according to agreed policies on availability of tests and priorities.
∎ Monitoring the out test properly & reporting accurately to the authority.
∎ Minimizing lab errors occurring at any stage of the testing process
∎ Performs other related duties as assigned.
∎ Job Summary:
∎ Scientific Officer / Sr. Scientific Officer is responsible for supervising the work of clinical laboratory Technologist & other staff, developing lab safety policies that align with international accreditation standards and overseeing budgetary and administrative responsibilities. Safety is of paramount importance in a laboratory and clinical lab managers must also oversee the functionality of laboratory equipment, train medical technologist on how to use the equipment properly, and report the conditions of a clinical laboratory regularly to a supervisor or accreditation board.
