Job Context:
∎ BACKGROUND:
∎ The Feed the Future Bangladesh Agricultural Infrastructure Development Activity is a United States Agency for International Development funded project implemented by PAE, an Amentum company. The Activity seeks to address the infrastructure needs of farmers through investments in rural roads, market centers, collection centers, cold storage facilities, and irrigation systems. By investing in rural infrastructure, the Activity will increase incomes, create jobs, reduce crop losses, improve agricultural productivity, and strengthen food security.
∎ The main five objectives of the program are:
∎ Increase access to markets for agricultural produce, inputs, and services by improving transportation of agricultural produce and inputs, while improving the capacity of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) to maintain rural roads.
∎ Enhance post-harvest handling and storage of agricultural produce by increasing access to post-harvest handling and storage facilities and improving the operation and maintenance of aggregation and storage facilities.
∎ Improve women`s participation in the markets.
∎ Engage the private sector in order to maximize the impact of the Activity.
∎ Build operation and maintenance capacity at the markets.
∎ Duration - Through end of construction, approximately June 2024
∎ Duty Station: Nowpara Marker Centre, Upazila: Modhukhali, DISTRICT: Faridpur, Bangladesh. Candidate shall be willing to work in Faridpur District. No relocation fees or per diem shall apply.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ PAE/Amentum seeks a Quality Control Representative for its subcontractor in charge of construction at the Nowpara market in Faridpur. The Quality Control Representative shall:
∎ Ensure conformance with all quality control procedures, policies, and practices
∎ Provide regular reports on progress, problems encountered, non-conformances, and corrective actions
∎ Record daily quality control observations on all construction activities in daily inspection logs and takes photos of the progress.
∎ Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and submittals.
∎ Maintain a job site file for all submittals, daily quality control reports, logs for testing requirements, and related information.
∎ Review project specifications for quality requirements and ensures work performed on-site complies with subcontract requirements.
∎ Control and document non-conforming items or conditions and administer corrective actions.
∎ Control documentation necessary to substantiate the quality of materials and workmanship.
∎ Ensure satisfactory completion all laboratory testing required by the specifications and any additional tests required by the PAE/Amentum in a timely manner.
∎ Inspect all materials delivered to the job site at the time of receipt to confirm their compliance with plans and specifications.
∎ Provide oversight of all staff to ensure that construction activities are completed according to designs.
∎ Conduct follow-up inspections to verify all work is being performed in accordance with the subcontract documents, applicable codes and standards, and the approved project submittals.
∎ Maintain the project "as-built" drawings on a daily basis.
∎ Complete other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 3 years of experience performing quality management activities in Bangladesh for construction, 5 years or more highly preferred
∎ Must have received formal training on construction quality control
∎ Knowledge of international standards (ASHTO, ACI Code, ASTM, etc.), construction materials, laboratory equipment and testing required
∎ Working knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required
∎ English language skills, both written and verbal required
∎ Proven organizational management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
∎ Only Bangladeshi national can apply.
