Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the direct supervision of Medical Logistics Officer (NPO) and overall supervision of Emergency Health Programme Coordinator in Cox's Bazar, the successful candidate will be responsible for overall management of medicine procurement, stock maintenance, timely supplies to the field.
∎ The incumbent will be assigned to inter alia, the following tasks:
∎ 1. Prepare medicine procurement plan and support the Procurement team in purchasing quality medicines reviewing and interpreting consumption rate in the IOM supported clinics and hospitals.
∎ 2. Ensure timely delivery of medicines by the supplier/companies.
∎ 3. Receive deliveries, maintain general stock register; Keep records for medicine consumption and update registers regularly
∎ 4. Supervise and monitor dispensing of medicines by the Pharmacy Assistants one in Ukhia and one in Teknaf.
∎ 5. Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
∎ 6. Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
∎ 7. Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, residents, and health care professionals.
∎ 8. Complies with National and Central drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections
∎ 9. Maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy
∎ 10. Manage inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
∎ 11. Maintains safe and clean working environment in the medicine store by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
∎ 12. Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
∎ 13. Take timely measures to avoid stock-out and expiry of medicines and supplies
∎ 14. Keep records of refrigerator temperature twice daily and maintain cold chain for medicines/vaccines as appropriate
∎ 15. Strictly follow DGHS and IOM standards with respect to customer-friendly services, confidentialities of medical information, ethical standards and healthy working environment.
∎ 16. Participating in field missions out of duty station when/where required.
∎ 17. Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years' experience as Pharmacist with Hospital/Clinics/Private clinic
∎ Capacity to work independently, efficiently with flexibility
∎ Good knowledge of administering medication
∎ Awareness of legal compliance, productivity of drugs and clinical logistics
∎ Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including ability to speak in public
∎ Good in verbal communication; Working knowledge with Rohingya, local languages of Chittagong/Cox's Bazaar are an advantage.
