Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.
∎ Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.
∎ Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.
∎ Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingerstick.
∎ Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
∎ Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.
∎ Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.
∎ Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.
∎ Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
∎ Maintain Money receipt and cash collection.
∎ Collect blood, urine, and other bodily fluids from patients according to established procedures.
∎ Prepare specimens for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling.Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens.
∎ Perform a wide range of laboratory testsOperate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
∎ Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.Monitor and document quality control data.
∎ Participate in proficiency testing programs.
∎ Analyze laboratory results and interpret findings.Verify and validate test results before releasing them to healthcare providers.
∎ Prepare and generate accurate and timely laboratory reports.
∎ Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to protect patients, staff, and the environment.
∎ Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspaceComply with all relevant regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
∎ Provide technical assistance to healthcare providers regarding laboratory tests and results.
