Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma in Nursing, HSC, Diploma in Medical Technology in Operation Theatre Assistant(OTA), Diploma in Nursing, HSC, Diploma in Medical Technology in Operation Theatre Assistant(OTA)
∎ SSC or Equivalent for OT Assistant.
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 3 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Maintains a clean, safe, environment in patient care areas
∎ Keeping operational tools and equipment clean and organised
∎ Checking for inaccuracies in the patient's medical charts and records prior to surgery
∎ Monitoring equipment and transferring operating instruments to the surgeon during the surgery
∎ Cleaning the patient and the operating table post-surgery
∎ Disposing of any residual materials properly
∎ The flow and retrieval of information
∎ Apply, adjust and remove all common orthopedic devices
∎ Fit and adjust canes, crutches and walkers and the like, instruct patients on use of these walking aids
∎ When appropriate and under the direct supervision of licensed nursing personnel, render some portion of basic nursing care as requested
∎ Applies simple casts or splints based on the injury and the prescribed treatment
∎ Cleans and stores equipment/tools, including cast saw, plaster trap
∎ Transfer patients from room to room, x-ray table, cast table
∎ Applies, adjusts, and removes casts, splints or dressings
∎ May assemple and attach orthopedic traction equipment and devices and set up special devices as required
∎
