Responsibilities & Context:
∎ This is the central function. It involves buying paddy (unmilled rice) & rice from farmers and traders.
∎ This can occur at local markets, directly from farms, or at a trader's point.
∎ The purchaser must assess the quality of the paddy & rice, determining factors like moisture content, cleanliness, and grain quality.
∎ Staying informed about current paddy prices, market trends, and seasonal variations is crucial.
∎ This includes understanding the factors influencing price fluctuations, such as weather, supply, and demand.
∎ Must know the market, competitors and cultivation trends of crop.
∎ Building and maintaining positive relationships with farmers and traders is essential for a steady supply of paddy.
∎ This involves fair dealing, transparent transactions, and clear communication.
∎ Arranging for purchasing paddy from farms or markets to storage facilities or rice mills or Traders' points.
∎ This may involve coordinating with transportation providers and ensuring proper handling of the grain.
