Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 2 year(s)
Job Context:
∎ To interact with the blood donors, checking them for possible diseases and finally selecting a donor for blood donation.
∎ Safe collection, processing, storing, testing and supplying blood for transfusion.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Interaction with the donors to inform about the norms for blood donation.
∎ Checking the donors for possible diseases, their weight, hemoglobin, blood pressure etc. and finally selecting them for blood donation.
∎ Blood collection, processing and storing the blood and blood components at appropriate temperature.
∎ Preparing and bleeding the donor.
∎ Preparing the various components e.g. PRBC, FFP, Platelet and cryoprecipitate and storing them at appropriate temperature.
∎ Screening the donor's blood for transfusion transmissible infections.
∎ Testing the donor and patient's blood for grouping and cross matching and issuing blood and blood components safely.
∎ Testing for blood group antigens, compatibility and antibody identification.
∎ Investigating abnormalities such as hemolytic disease of the newborn, hemolytic anemia's, and adverse responses to transfusion.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 22 years
∎ Only males are allowed to apply
∎ Proper knowledge and skill in doing the procedure.
∎ Knowledge of cross checking specimens with the records available.
∎ Ability to make reports.
∎ Prompt on helping others.
∎ Having B.Sc / Diploma in Medical Technology under The State Medical Faculty.
