∎ Age 22 to 28 years
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Prepare and process histological and cytological specimens (e.g., tissue biopsies, fine needle aspirations, Pap smears).
∎ Embed, cut, and stain tissue samples using routine and special staining techniques.
∎ Perform microscopic analysis of prepared slides for diagnostic purposes under supervision or as per SOPs.
∎ Operate and maintain histopathology and cytopathology equipment (e.g., microtomes, cryostats, tissue processors, cytospin machines).
∎ Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
∎ Conduct quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of results.
∎ Adhere to laboratory protocols, biosafety guidelines, and regulatory requirements for handling biological specimens.
∎ Ensure proper labeling, storage, and tracking of all specimens.
∎ Maintain detailed documentation of specimen processing, test results, and quality control records.
∎ Perform routine H&E staining and special staining techniques (e.g., PAS, AFB, Gram stain) as required for pathological evaluation.
∎ Ensure consistent staining quality for accurate diagnostics.
∎ Work closely with pathologists, clinicians, and laboratory staff to support timely and accurate diagnosis.
∎ Assist in fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and prepare specimens for cytological examination.
∎ Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
∎ Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and biological waste.
∎ Provide technical support and training to junior staff or trainees in histopathology and cytopathology techniques.
∎ Participate in continuing education programs to stay updated on advancements in the field.
∎ Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for histopathology and cytopathology operations.
∎ Participate in audits, quality assurance programs, and departmental meetings to improve laboratory practices and efficiency. Stay updated on new techniques or any other assignment given by the management.
