Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Analyzing samples: Performing scientific tests on biological samples, such as blood, urine, and tissue, to identify and treat medical conditions.
∎ Operating equipment: Using laboratory equipment like microscopes and cell counters to perform tests.
∎ Recording data: Logging data from tests and entering results into a patient's medical record.
∎ Communicating with physicians: Discussing test results and findings with physicians.
∎ Ensuring safety: Following safety procedures, including knowing how to respond to emergencies and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
∎ Maintaining equipment: Keeping equipment clean and in good working order, and ensuring it's properly labeled.
∎ Preparing specimens: Preparing samples for testing.
∎ Interpreting results: Interpreting test results and reporting them to physicians.
∎ Establishing procedures: Creating procedures for analyzing specimens and conducting experiments.
∎ Training others: Supervising and training other medical laboratory staff.
∎ Assisting with autopsies: Assisting pathologists during autopsies.
