Job Context:
∎ Red Cross - Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President`s Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government in the Disaster Management field, BDRCS provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.
∎ The Japanese Red Cross Society, a national society is also assisting BDRCS enhance the capacity of Health Care Projects. For smooth functioning of this Health Post Centre, currently BDRCS is looking for suitable Bangladeshi nationals for the position of 2 Doctors:
∎ Duration of contract : July-December 2021.
∎ Organizational Unit : PMO, BDRCS.
∎ Report to : Field Health Manager in Coordinated with JRCS Project Manager, PMO, BDRCS.
∎ Duty station: Ukhiya, Balukhali Health Post.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Purpose of the position: The Doctor position is to assist in the successful implementation of the health program in Balukhali Rohingya Camps as well as the host community. The position is responsible for implementation of Health program in one end and to assist Health & PSS manager on other end. The position deserves a person who is a general physician, with at least 2 years working experience, working experience on the government health system in Bangladesh is an asset.
∎ Duties and responsibilities: Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients / beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, standard protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients'/beneficiaries health conditions.
∎ Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations as per requested, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting protocols.
∎ Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
∎ Follow up the evolution of the patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments - in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient's evolution.
∎ Mentor nurses and midwives in the facilities on the following areas: Counselling and provision of Family Planning, Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors, Provision of basic first aid for intimate partner violence, Syndromic treatment of STIs, Menstrual regulation, ANC and PNC, Delivery of hygiene promotion, health education and patient/care giver counselling, etc.
∎ Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures.
∎ Ensure accurate recording of information in the registers, and timely completion of summary reports.
∎ Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
∎ Participate in the collection of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the health manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients' illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the clinic's equipment or material.
∎ Knows and ensures all standard medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.
∎ Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age upto 45 years
∎ Age : 25 - 45 years (May be relaxed in case of potential candidate)
∎ Experience:
∎ At least Five years working experience in hospitals, clinics, health centers, general practice, etc.
∎ Experience in supporting emergency response is desired
∎ Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
∎ Ability to work in a rural setting
∎ Good computer skills, especially in MS Office and data entry templates
∎ Good coordination skills and ability to cope with stress
∎ Fluency in both spoken and written Bangla and English languages, knowledge of the local dialect (Chittagonian) would be an asset
∎ Qualities:
∎ Adhere to the 7 fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement
∎ Act at all times in accordance with the Code of Conduct of RCRC Movement
∎ Priority will be given to the candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation and good communication and interpersonal skills.
∎ Honesty and high level of professional integrity.
