Job Context:
∎ In charge of the ship’s entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances but acting in a subordinate capacity to the Administrator/Senior Fleet Engineer/Fleet Engineer/Assistant Fleet Engineer of Friendship.
∎ Responsible for all operation, maintenance, and safety aspects of the ship’s entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ He will be responsible and accountable to the Administrator of the hospital ship and/or Senior Fleet Engineer/Fleet Engineer/Assistant Fleet Engineer of the Fleet Management Department in HO for his duties and performance
∎ He is responsible for the ship’s entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances and for their proper operation, maintenance, normal and emergency repair.
∎ He is responsible to carry out routine and periodical maintenance of the entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances including air conditioners, refrigerators etc.
∎ He is responsible for the general proper cleanliness and appearance of the entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances.
∎ He is responsible for keeping records of overhaul, maintenance, and running hours of all machinery and equipment, as applicable, in proper record books as permanent records of the ship.
∎ He is responsible to ensure that the entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances under his supervision is in good running condition and can be immediately brought into operation in any emergency.
∎ He is required to pay attention to the insulation of all alternators and motors on the ship by regular checking of insulation resistance by ‘Megger’ and report any abnormality immediately to his superior/s.
∎ He is required to be physically present in the engine room to assist Engine Driver during all maneuvering and in maintenance/repair of machinery and other equipment of the ship.
∎ In addition to the above, he is required to submit reports of maintenance of entire electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment and appliances, store/spare consumption, or any other report on a weekly or monthly basis to his line manager, as required or as instructed, through the Administrator.
∎ He will be responsible for preparing the requisition of spares and stores for the electrical plant, alternators, motors, electrical wiring, equipment, and appliances etc. for the hospital ship and submitting to the Administrator for sending to Fleet Management Department in HO,
∎ He can be delegated to undertake any other additional duty as required or directed by the relevant higher authority appropriate to his competency or grade and can be transferred from ship to ship as per operational requirement or convenience of the Fleet Management Department in a post appropriate to his competency or grade.
∎ He will always be required to observe and uphold Friendship’s Code of Ethics, Policies & Guidelines, Rules & Regulations, Personnel & Confidentiality Policies.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 20 to 30 years
∎ Only males are allowed to apply
∎ Holding Certificate as stated above 02 to 03 years practical experience on board ships or in shore-based industrial plants with the requisite knowledge as stated above.
∎ Without Holding any Certificate: Minimum 05 years of practical shipboard experience in operation and maintenance of ship electrical plant and equipment
