Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the supervision of the Team Leader / Deputy Team Leader the Urban Planner will be assigned to the Project based in Dhaka. There will be frequent travel to the project towns Sirajganj, Cumilla and Narayanganj in support of field based planning and other technical staff.
∎ The Urban Planner will be responsible to:
∎ • Liaise with local government and relevant stakeholders to ensure the full integration of the project in town level planning,
∎ • Lead the city wide engagement process with all relevant stakeholders,
∎ • Review master plans and slum and vacant land maps of the project towns,
∎ • Support the town manager and the project planning team in producing settlement land maps,
∎ • Coordinate and ensure the integration of social, economic and technical aspects in the settlement planning process,
∎ • Coordinate and ensure the integration of appropriate infrastructure and housing solutions in the settlement planning, design and construction processes,
∎ • Lead the development of settlement level master plans,
∎ • Work closely with relevant existing programs and projects on urban poverty.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 40 to 65 years
∎ • Based on the understanding of lessons learnt during this initial pilot phase of the project for shelter improvement of the urban poor, assist in conducting urban related planning activities for completing the feasibility and recommendations for up scaling to 5 additional towns.
∎ • In doing so, review urban master plans, and slum and vacant land mapping for the Project towns.
∎ • Develop relationships with local government administration and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the full integration of the Project in town level planning.
∎ • Work closely with existing programs and Projects on urban poverty and housing to ensure integration.
∎ • Advise the Project team on city level planning issues to ensure that city wide approach is fully accommodated.
∎ • Lead the city-wide engagement process, bringing together all relevant stakeholders within the relevant Project towns to discuss and identify solutions.
Salary: Negotiable
