Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct daily hospital floor visits/rounds to inspect the documentation on infection control measures.
∎ Educate the nursing staff on the infection control practices set forth by the hospital.
∎ Provide feedback on instances of any communicable diseases reported by the Nurse Manager.
∎ Detection of incidence of hospital-acquired infection and identification of the cause of infection.
∎ Surveillance of isolation procedures.
∎ Surveillance of nursing practices where they are related to infection, e.g., sterile techniques.
∎ Monitoring of food hygiene and health of food handling staff.
∎ Assists the Infection Control Officer in overseeing the Hand Hygiene Surveillance Program.
∎ Monitoring collection and disposal of infected wastes.
∎ Conduct education programs in infection control for all new nursing and paramedical staff, in conjunction with the medical and technical officers.
∎ Supervises the maintenance of the established protocols for infection prevention e.g. isolation procedures, hand washing techniques used, the use of hand rub, change of IV set, change of central line dressing, availability of supplies, terminal cleaning of a unit, and disinfection of equipment etc. in the hospital.
∎ Corrects and teaches staff whenever the need arises during rounds e.g. proper use of gloves, improper handling of equipment, the practice of aseptic precautions etc.
∎ Tracks down the source of an organism such as in the case of an outbreak of salmonella or MRSA infections. This includes environmental and personnel monitoring when appropriate.
∎ Carries out surveillance through regular contact with all the departments of the hospital, particularly those providing patient care.
∎ Collects data pertaining to C/S reports from the Microbiology Department.
∎ Participate in regular Infection Control Committee meetings to evaluate the situation at any given time period.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Sufficient experience (two years are recommended) in identifying, surveillance, preventing, and controlling the transmission of infectious diseases.

Salary: Negotiable
