Job Context:
∎ Full-time, Sunday through Thursday. 9 AM to 6 PM.

∎ The DataSense unit at iSocial is searching for an accountable, multitalented Data Engineer to facilitate our data-related operations. The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines and facilitate process transformation to increase data-based operational visibility and data availability. Successful candidates will be well-versed in deploying automated data management systems primed for data analytics including machine learning. Advanced data analysis skills will be considered a plus.
∎ About DataSense Team
∎ DataSense™ is the business intelligence unit at iSocial, which offers both B2B services to external clients as well as in-house research and analytics support to iSocial`s other programs. DataSense™ provides various modes of research and management consultation to B2B customers, which include data collection, curating, and processing, analytics for operations management, and empirical intelligence generation to simplify executive decision-making.
∎ The team takes a special interest in promoting BoP growth, via superior data precision and dynamic targeting, in partnership with development agencies, government bodies, and local entrepreneurs.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Liaising with coworkers and clients to elucidate the requirements for each task.
∎ Conceptualizing and generating infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
∎ Reformulating existing frameworks to optimize their functioning.
∎ Testing such structures to ensure that they are fit for use.
∎ Preparing raw data for manipulation by Data Scientists.
∎ Detecting and correcting errors in your work.
∎ Ensuring that your work remains backed up and readily accessible to relevant coworkers.
∎ Remaining up-to-date with industry standards and technological advancements that will improve the quality of your outputs.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 3 years as Data Engineer or relevant profession
∎ Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar.
∎ Expert proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
∎ Familiarity with Hadoop/Spark or suitable equivalent.
∎ Deep understanding of data structures and schemas
∎ Work experience with various data storage formats:
∎ Relational databases
∎ Non-relational databases
∎ Files
∎ Azure data storages
∎ Experience with cloud-based technologies, especially Azure.
∎ Quick to understand business needs and learn domain specific knowledge.
∎ Experience with different Business Intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
∎ Experience with Data Warehouses such as Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake, etc.
∎ Experience doing complex queries and transformations on large data sets.
∎ Good scripting and functional programming skills. Expertise in exploratory data analysis and the basics of data-driven reasoning are a must.
∎ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
∎ Capacity to successfully manage a pipeline of duties with minimal supervision.
∎ Should collaborate with coworkers to ensure that your approach meets each project's needs.
∎ A knack for independent and group work.
∎ Scrupulous approach to duties.
