Job Responsibilities:
∎ Overall Job Purpose: The Chief Safety Officer leads all the technical inspections departments of the RSC. The role reports into the Board of Directors (with dotted line reporting to the MD) and is based in the RSC office in Dhaka.
∎ The role is responsible for supervising and governing the work of each of the technical departments, driving SOP's and compliance in a consistent manner, creating best-in-class practices and standards, resolving technical matters with key stakeholders, providing independent safety reports, developing the technical teams through right hiring and capability building - thus ensuring the broader vision, mission and objectives of the RSC are met through the actions outlined for the technical departments.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 25+ years plus of demonstrated, progressive engineering experience in operations with an organisation or business similar in size to the RSC and most recent experience in a leadership position of CSO or equivalent
∎ Key Skills:
∎ Fluency in written and spoken English
∎ Excellent organisation and record keeping skills
∎ Strong communications and interpersonal skills
∎ Experienced Engineer within building design and construction experience with project management experience
∎ Proven Building and Life Safety experience and training and qualifications
∎ Demonstrable track record in Building and Life Safety programmes in RMG Factory inspections, technical reviews, remediation, and closeout-final inspections
∎ Highest standards of integrity and honesty, a strong work ethic, and commitment to the goals of the RSC and the RMG industry
∎ Discretion, discipline, and professional maturity regarding confidential issues
∎ Ability to manage and direct entire engineering departments (supervisory experience)
∎ Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to cope with stressful situations and tight timelines
∎ Successful organisation and planning of multiple items to tight deadlines and often with conflicting priorities
∎ Diplomacy in dealing with individuals who may be difficult or irate, negotiation skills and resourcefulness,
∎ Ability to quickly assimilate data, situations and respond appropriately
∎ Ability to define the appropriate actions when an adverse report is received
∎ Ability to work within well-defined levels of authority and criteria
∎ Being culturally aware during the decision-making process
∎ Deep knowledge of social and cultural sensitivity
∎ Some knowledge of human and labor rights
