∎ Bachelor of Science (BSc)
∎ Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline. A PhD in Food science will be preferred.

∎ • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in R&D within the food and beverage industry, with a focus on food powder products, protein formulations, and nutritional analysis.
∎ • Trial Knowledge: Experience in conducting trials for new SKUs, with the ability to scale from lab development to full production while maintaining quality standards.
∎ • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with food regulations, quality assurance, and product certification processes (e.g., BFSA, BSTI, FDA).
∎ • Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with external partners, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams to achieve project goals.
∎ • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects and tight deadlines. Ability to oversee the entire product development process from concept to commercialization.
∎ • Analytical Skills: Strong background in product testing, analysis, and validation, including sensory testing, stability studies, and lab-scale production.
∎ • Technical Expertise: Proficient in product formulation, ingredient functionality, and the use of technology to enhance product performance. Experience with nutrition labelling, food safety regulations, and quality standards.

Responsibilities & Context:

∎ We are looking for a highly skilled and creative R&D Asst. Manager/Manager to join our team and spearhead the development of cutting-edge food products, particularly in the areas of protein and nutritional formulations. The ideal candidate will be an expert in formulating innovative products, collaborating with external R&D, regulatory partners, and ensuring all processes meet high industry standards.

∎ Key Responsibilities:
∎ • Product Development & Formulation: Lead the end-to-end development of food powder products, focusing on protein nutrition and other functional ingredients. Create innovative formulations that meet nutritional, taste, and texture goals.
∎ • Collaborate with External Partners: Build and maintain relationships with external R&D firms and technical partners to leverage their expertise and enhance our product offerings.
∎ • Prototype Development: Design, develop, and test new product prototypes, making iterative improvements based on sensory evaluation, consumer feedback, and technical performance.
∎ • Product Claims & Compliance: Generate and substantiate product claims (e.g., nutritional benefits, health claims) in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
∎ • Vendor & Source Qualification: Evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers for raw materials and ingredients. Ensure sourcing is aligned with product requirements, cost constraints, and quality standards.
∎ • Packaging Specifications: Develop packaging concepts, create theoretical packaging specifications, and collaborate with the packaging team to ensure functionality, product protection, and aesthetic appeal.
∎ • Manufacturing Process Development: Design, document, and optimize manufacturing process flows for new products, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
∎ • Technology Dossiers: Compile comprehensive technology dossiers that document the product formulation, process parameters, quality control measures, and regulatory compliance for each new product.
∎ • Innovation & Market Trends: Stay ahead of market trends by exploring new technologies, ingredients, and consumer demands. Identify opportunities to introduce novel products that will differentiate the business in the marketplace.
∎ • Trial & Testing of New SKUs: Possess the knowledge and experience to conduct trials for new SKUs, ensuring they meet required standards for quality, taste, and performance. Manage scale-up trials and troubleshooting to refine formulations for full production.
∎ • Government Collaboration: Maintain and manage relationships with relevant government institutions and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with regulations, obtain necessary certifications, and stay informed on any new legislative changes that impact product development and commercialization.
