1 . Shalban Buddhist Monastery

Shalbon bihar is one of the numerous ancient structures of the Lalmai-Mainamati archaeological site in the Comilla district. Shalban Vihar, surrounded by quiet shade, attracts the attention of travelers. It is one of the signs of the ancient civilization of Bangladesh.

The fourth king of the Deva dynasty, Sribhavadev, built this Buddhist temple. It is square in shape. Each arm of Shalban Bihar is 167.7 meters long.

There are a total of 155 rooms in Bihar. Each room has 3 niches wall where deities and oil lamps were kept.

12 smaller temples surround the main temple in the center of the Buddhist temple. History and nature together have created a different atmosphere in Comilla Shalban Vihar.

2. War Symmetry

The War Cemetery, located in Mainamati Cantonment, is the final resting place for the soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War, which lasted from 1939 to 1945.

Here, 736 soldiers from different nations rest in peace. As visitors arrive, they walk down a broad path flanked by rows of graves, each adorned with beautiful flowering plants.

One notable feature is the exceptional grave at the front of the cemetery, where 23 graves encircle a central space.

It mainly conducts training and research for the development of rural communities. It was established in 1959 at Kotbari in Comilla district.

A large watercourse of 23.18 acres is located in Comilla city. Maharaja Dharmamanikya, ruler of the Tripura kingdom, dug this lake in 1458.

The purpose for which Maharaja excavated the Dharmasagar is no longer in use. For many years, people have satisfied their heart’s desires, but this vast lake remains unquenched.
