Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Job Summary:
∎ We are seeking a skilled and proactive Biomedical Technician to join our Biomedical Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing biomedical equipment, overseeing gas plant operations, and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all medical instruments within the hospital.
∎ Key Responsibilities:
∎ Biomedical Equipment Management: Address and resolve complaints regarding biomedical equipment. Perform functional testing, preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs on a wide range of biomedical instruments. Conduct daily rounds across hospital departments to check equipment status, perform repairs, and provide on-site user training.
∎ Technical Maintenance: Diagnose and repair electronic circuits. Conduct routine scheduled maintenance, including visual and mechanical inspections, safety and performance testing, parts replacement, calibration, and minor repairs.
∎ New Equipment Verification: Inspect and verify the performance of new or incoming biomedical equipment before clinical use.
∎ Troubleshooting & Calibration: Perform corrective maintenance and calibrate equipment as needed. Respond promptly to service requests and troubleshoot to the component level whenever feasible.
∎ User Training & Safety: Instruct clinical users on the proper operation, safety, and routine care of biomedical instruments.
∎ Operational Reporting: Report to the Head of Department (HoD) on preventive maintenance procedures, operational improvements, and incident investigations. Oversee warranty repairs and contracted services by external representatives.
∎ Inventory Management: Requisition service parts and spares for maintenance or stock replenishment. Investigate alternative parts sources for cost savings, quality improvement, or faster delivery.
∎ Installation & Servicing: Install and service medical and related technical equipment for hospital, laboratory, and research use. Maintain a high level of troubleshooting, communication, and computer skills for servicing various equipment.
∎ Gas Plant Operations: Operate and maintain the gas plant, ensuring safe and efficient production of gas. Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, following safety procedures.
∎ Documentation & Compliance: Maintain all required documentation as per management guidelines and current policies.
∎ Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by the HoD.
