Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Design and Maintain Laboratory Tests: Develop and optimize laboratory tests for surveillance projects and outbreak investigations.
∎ Analyze Specimens: Perform diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimen types.
∎ Maintain Equipment: Set up, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment to ensure efficient functioning.
∎ Ensure Quality: Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to guarantee accurate test results.
∎ Supervise Staff: Oversee and guide medical technologists, providing training to new team members.
∎ Prepare Reports: Compile and submit detailed surveillance and diagnostic reports.
∎ Assist with Investigations: Support outbreak investigations and assist with department inspections.
∎ Perform Risk Assessments: Evaluate laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
∎ Manage Inventory: Oversee the selection, purchasing, storage, and allocation of laboratory equipment and supplies, including data analysis tools.
∎ Adhere to Protocols: Follow established clinical and laboratory protocols and seek guidance from the Clinical/Laboratory Director when needed.
∎ Meet Clinical Requests: Ensure clinical requests are fulfilled per agreed policies regarding test availability and priority.
∎ Monitor and Report: Accurately monitor outgoing tests and report results to relevant authorities.
∎ Minimize Errors: Implement measures to reduce laboratory errors throughout the testing process.
∎ Additional Duties: Perform any other related duties as assigned.
∎ Job Summary:
∎ The Scientific Officer / Sr. Scientific Officer at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital PLC will supervise clinical laboratory technologists and staff, develop and implement lab safety policies in accordance with international accreditation standards, and manage budgetary and administrative responsibilities. Safety is a top priority, and the officer will ensure all laboratory equipment functions properly, train staff on proper equipment use, and report the laboratory's status regularly to supervisors or accreditation boards.
