Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Assist in developing and executing public relations strategies to enhance the university’s reputation.
∎ Act as a liaison between the university and media outlets, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information.
∎ Draft and distribute press releases, media statements, and official communications.
∎ Monitor media coverage and provide reports on public perception and media impact.
∎ Handle media inquiries and facilitate interviews with university leadership and faculty.
∎ Support marketing and branding initiatives to promote university programs and achievements.
∎ Assist in the preparation of promotional materials, brochures, and digital content.
∎ Ensure consistency in messaging across various communication channels.
∎ Conduct research on market trends and audience engagement to improve branding efforts.
∎ Manage and update the university’s social media platforms with engaging and relevant content.
∎ Monitor online discussions and respond to queries or concerns to maintain a positive digital presence.
∎ Assist in developing content strategies to enhance social media reach and engagement.
∎ Track and analyze social media metrics to assess campaign effectiveness.
∎ Assist in planning and coordinating university events, press conferences, and public engagement programs.
∎ Support collaboration with government agencies, corporate partners, and community stakeholders.
∎ Represent the university at public events and networking functions.
∎ Contribute to alumni engagement and outreach initiatives.
∎ Draft newsletters, reports, and university publications to keep internal stakeholders informed.
∎ Ensure proper communication flow within the university regarding major events and announcements.
∎ Coordinate with faculty, students, and administrative departments for content creation and dissemination.
∎ Track and evaluate the impact of PR activities through media monitoring and feedback collection.
∎ Prepare reports and presentations on PR performance and media outreach efforts.
∎ Ensure adherence to university policies and ethical communication standards.
∎ Job Purpose:
∎ The Public Relations Officer (PRO) is responsible for promoting and maintaining a positive image of the university through effective communication, media relations, and public engagement. The role involves managing external and internal communications, supporting branding initiatives, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders, including media, students, and the community.
∎ Major Responsibilities
