Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. Related to Lab. Administration -
∎ Note breakage, losses in technical types of equipment and apparatus, and be responsible for all the expensive reagents in the department.
∎ Keep store inventory and audit.
∎ 2. Related to Lab Work
∎ Phlebotomists are responsible for collecting and preparing samples that will undergo laboratory testing.
∎ To identify the patient before performing a collection.
∎ Verifies test requisitions by comparing the information with the nursing station, bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
∎ Identify patients correctly.
∎ To maintain specimen integrity by using an aseptic technique.
∎ To communicate and interact effectively with patients and other medical professionals.
∎ Must have an understanding of safety procedures with must be followed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases when handling and collecting blood samples.
∎ Participate in training and educational programs.
∎ 3. Performs all other tasks as required by the department.
