Job Responsibilities:
∎ Understand and interpret the company long term Global and Regional growth plans, and translate that into production capacity requirements by product category. Through benchmarking, networking and research gain maximum insights of the sourcing strategies and tactics of other international footwear brands.
∎ Research and interpret the Country Risk for any new sourcing countries considered.
∎ Collaborate with Finance and Logistics Dept. to maintain full awareness on international trade agreements and import duty regulations for the key DM markets.
∎ Assess new supplier options in targeted countries in terms of CSR status, domestic T2 supplier options, T2 materials/component supply vendor strategy, benchmark the manufacturing cost ($ LOPD) and total product cost structure ($FOB) of any new suppliers considered.
∎ a) To define most suitable product SKUs for new supplier start-up matching the best capacities of the proposed supplier and in line with DM strategic sourcing.
∎ b) Organise the first round of sample making in such most suitable product SKUs.
∎ c) Present to the leadership team an all encompassing new supplier proposition and start-up plan to seek sign-off for start-up.
∎ e) Consider the new supplier's potential for capacity expansion, cost optimization, compliance with company quality and CSR standards, lead time reduction, and contribution to company's sustainability goals.
∎ f) Engage all key stakeholders involved in the preparation of a new supplier start-up:
∎ Manage the configuration of the new supplier's production line start-up, coordinate the supplier's procurement of DM proprietary manufacturing equipment, manage training of new operators on company's specific manufacturing operations, organise a start-up.
∎ Work with Supply Planning to plan raw materials, capacity build-up and issue trials and bulk purchase orders.
∎ Coordinate secure access and integration with all relevant operational IT systems and portals needed for supplier performance management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 8-10 years' experience working with Factories with a strong footwear sourcing background. Familiarity with Asia sourcing countries or within the wider Region will be notable advantage.
∎ Experience of working in a branded footwear environment.
∎ Knowledge of production, product development, costing, supply chain management, bulk manufacturing, quality management procedures and commercial negotiations with Asian source factories of both first and second tier.
∎ Extensive knowledge of footwear constructions, materials and all areas of footwear and component manufacture. Appropriate technical shoemaking qualification (ACFI level or equivalent)
∎ Strong Communication, organizational, and negotiation skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision and possess the ability to assemble and manage teams
∎ Familiar with footwear CAD systems and PC literate
