Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma in Medical Technology in Laboratory Medicine
∎ Minimum 3 year diploma (Laboratory Medicine)
Experience Requirements:
∎ At most 4 year(s)
∎ Freshers are also encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Operates and maintains sophisticated instruments and equipment.
∎ Properly set up, calibrate, maintain, operate, and shut down such instruments.
∎ Prepares sections of human and/or animal tissue for immediate examination.
∎ Rapid tissue processing and the frozen section technique to cut, mount, and stain tissue specimens.
∎ Preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
∎ Prepares slides or specimens for examination under a microscope by using special cutting and stain.
∎ Use computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax tissue specimens to be preserved for study by pathologists.
∎ Performs computerized data entry of all work performed and generates reports as required.
∎ Maintains all histologic manuals in the laboratory, recommends and develops new services, projects and procedures.
∎ Work with possibly infected samples on a daily basis.
∎ Concern about proper sterilization and safety techniques in the laboratory is essential.
∎ Conducting experiments under defined conditions to verify or reject various types of samples using scientific laboratory methods.
∎ Organizing and storing all chemicals, liquids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
∎ Write down all the information on the forms (paper) that are provided and give them to the authorized consultant.
∎ Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
