Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Develop, implement, and update infection control policies and procedures to meet hospital standards and public health regulations.
∎ Conduct routine infection surveillance, data collection, and analysis to identify trends and risks.
∎ Provide ongoing training and education to healthcare staff on infection prevention practices.
∎ Ensure hospital-wide compliance with infection control standards and protocols.
∎ Investigate and manage infection outbreaks within the hospital, collaborating with relevant departments.
∎ Work closely with medical, nursing, and administrative teams to identify and reduce infection risks in all areas.
∎ Prepare detailed reports on infection control activities and outcomes for hospital administration.
∎ Participate in the design and implementation of infection control strategies, ensuring alignment with the latest public health guidelines.
∎ Perform risk assessments and recommend improvements to minimize infection transmission.
∎ Collaborate with public health authorities on matters related to infection control, including reporting and outbreak response.
∎ Oversee the sterilization, disinfection, and proper handling of medical instruments and hospital facilities.
∎ Disassembling, Decontaminating, inspecting, and reassembling surgical/medical instruments in accordance with established procedures
∎ Tracks and reports work-related infectious diseases to the infection control committee.
∎ Ensure mock surveys are done quarterly in the hospital.
∎ Ensure proper usage and monitoring of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect staff and patients.
∎ Advise on hospital layout and design improvements to reduce infection risks.
∎ Develop and oversee hand hygiene and other infection prevention programs across departments.
∎ Coordinate with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee to determine the direction of surveillance activities and actively evaluate effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Plan annually.
∎ Monitor antibiotic usage within the hospital to prevent resistance and promote antimicrobial stewardship.
∎ Provide expert guidance on the care and management of infectious patients, ensuring adherence to isolation protocols.
∎ Actively participate in hospital committees focused on infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement.
∎ Develop and implement continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to quality, compliance and infectious diseases.
∎ Stay updated on current infection control guidelines, public health research, and emerging infectious diseases.
∎ Foster a culture of safety, prevention, and compliance within the hospital environment.
∎ Organize Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings and maintain all meeting minutes.
∎ Perform other duties as assigned by management.
