Requirements:
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Marine engineers maintain the ship's mechanical systems by monitoring engine performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing repairs.
∎ Marine engineers develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure the ship meets all operational and safety standards.
∎ Marine engineers manage fuel consumption and efficiency, and are often responsible for transferring fuel oil from a bunker station to the ship.
∎ Marine engineers are in charge of the engine room, including the construction, operations, and maintenance of the engine and its crew.
∎ Marine engineers may direct or supervise the design of ships, submarines, and other watercraft. They may also work on offshore projects, such as oil rigs and wind turbines, or on coastal structures, such as ports and seawalls.
∎ Marine engineers ensure that ships and boats meet environmental standards, such as rules about preventing pollution.
∎ Marine engineers coordinate with the captain and other senior officers, and oversee the work of other engineering staff
