Job Responsibilities – Engine Mechanic

• Perform inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair of diesel engines installed in the equipment.

• Work on multi-configuration heavy-duty engines, including 12-cylinder V-type and 6-cylinder inline engines from OEMs such as Liebherr, MAN, Cummins, CAT and Volvo.

• Personally lead and execute complete overhauling of 12-cylinder V-type and 6-cylinder inline diesel engines (with helper/technician support), including dismantling, inspection, measurement, parts replacement, reassembly, alignment, and commissioning.

• Carry out major engine overhauls of 12-cylinder V-type and 6-cylinder inline engine including cylinder head, piston/liner, crankshaft, camshaft, bearings, fuel injection system, tapped clearance, timing, and valve mechanism.

• Overhaul and service turbochargers, intercoolers, fuel pumps, injectors, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and air intake/exhaust assemblies.

• Perform precision measurement and tolerance checks (liner protrusion, bearing clearance, crankshaft deflection, valve clearance, and timing calibration).

• Conduct engine removal and installation on equipment using lifting plans and alignment procedures.

• Diagnose engine faults using OEM manuals, diagnostic tools, and performance parameters (compression, oil pressure, temperature, smoke, and vibration).

• Conduct post-overhaul testing, load trials, and performance verification to ensure OEM standards.

• Respond to breakdowns and execute emergency repairs to minimize port equipment downtime.

• Maintain overhaul reports, measurement records, parts lists, and maintenance documentation.

• Ensure safe maintenance practices, LOTO compliance, and environmental controls during engine work.

Not limited to: all required mechanical maintenance and overhaul activities related to heavy-duty diesel engines of the equipment.
