Educational Requirements:
∎ Masters degree in any discipline
∎ Must have a Master's Degree, preferably in Social Science/Psychology/ Nursing, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Management of patients by providing general counseling: a) Welcome patients; observe the prescription provided by the Doctors and give an essential explanation of the prescribed treatment. b) Explain to patients the modern methods of treatment and the importance of using prescribed medication. c) Provide patients information on handling eye care activities during regular days, including lighting arrangements and safety factors.
∎ Admission and Surgery Counseling: a) Receiving patients with guardians who need or are advised for surgery by the doctor. b) Go through the patient's medical records file for details about the disease and type of surgery. c) Clarifying the doubts of the patients by explaining the diseases, type, procedure/process, importance, possible outcomes and cost of surgery. d) Informing the patients/guardian about the modern methods of treatment and surgery, quality of surgeons, services and facilities available in the hospital to help them to make decisions about surgery. e) After getting consent for surgery from the patients or the patient's guardian, refer them for needed investigation on payment of investigation fees.
∎ Post-Operative Counseling: a) Welcome and give an essential explanation to patients who come for follow-up. b) Provide guidance and support to the patients for necessary follow-up examinations and doctor's consultations. c) Counsel the patients about the postoperative treatment, medicine use, and precaution as advised by the doctors. d) Advising the patients to come for follow-up regularly. e) Guiding the patients to their destination after the counseling is over.
∎ Provide support in the department's regular activities and reporting: a) Preparing monthly/yearly calendars for proper functioning. b) Keep records and do needful documentation for daily tracking of patient flow. c) Prepare and submit monthly reports in the prescribed format. d) Arranging the registered patient's case sheets or medical records. e) Must take account of daily registrations and the number of surgery patients. f) Coordinate with patients and colleagues in an open, clear and friendly manner.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 30 years
∎ Relevant experience in any healthcare institute/ hospital is preferable.
∎ Excellent communication skills
∎ Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
∎ Ability to empathize with patients.
∎ Creating effective treatment plans that include counseling, medication, or other services.
∎ Assessing patients through detailed conversations, interviews, and observations to determine the appropriate steps.
∎ Needs to have an excellent interpersonal and professional relationships with colleagues, paramedical staff and doctors.
