Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
∎ Post-graduation in anaesthesia or critical care medicine (FCPS/MD/MS). Or,
∎ Two year's certified diploma training in intensive care medicine or its equivalent.
Job Context:
∎ UNHCR aims to support the covid-19 response of government of Bangladesh by setting up ICU & HDU in sadar hospital, cox`s bazar to provide care to critically ill patients. UNHCR is looking for eligible candidates as part of the HR requirement for ICU & HDU treating critically ill covid-19 patients. staff who will be recruited seconded to Coxbazar sadar hospital.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Manage, as required, patients in Intensive Care (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU). Intensive Care work will entail, in liaison with the In-charge of Intensive Care, participation in an Intensive Care Medicine roster.
∎ The provision of a consultative service as required strictly limited to the ICU & HDU unit.
∎ Experience with ECLS (CV line & ETT intubation) is mandatory. Competency of independently manage critical patients with complex medical conditions in ICU & HDU settings including the patients who are under ventilation.
∎ A Junior consultant shall provide -
∎ - Ward (ICU and HDU) Rounds: there should be minimum four ICU rounds every day at which a junior consultant should lead the process
∎ - On-call commitment
∎ To participate on the emergency duty rosters as needed.
∎ This will be in accordance with a primary commitment to the intensive care department and high dependency unit.
∎ Takes an active role to ensure ICU roster is covered and planned, including balancing skill mix and providing coverage of 24/7. The duty hours for this position will be in accordance with GoB HRH policy.
∎ Conduct on job/ bedside trainings to ICU staffs on basic intensive care skills.
∎ Visit ICU & HDU admitted patient's and ensure their medical support.
∎ Ensure proper performance of ICU duty doctors.
∎ Will maintain close liaison with ICU In-charge/ Senior ICU consultant/ICU duty doctors.
∎ Junior consultants should not have any other clinical commitment when covering the ICU during work time hours.
∎ During working hours, the junior consultant of the ICU should spend the majority of his or her time on the ICU and must always be immediately available on the ICU.
∎ To maintain and ensure the handover regularly.
∎ All admissions to be discussed with the duty Senior ICU consultant and a management plan drawn up.
∎ Strictly adhere to the IPC guidelines and protocols.
∎ A junior consultant with specialist registration in anaesthesia shall provide light anaesthesia/ sedation for minor invasive procedures carried out in ICU & HDU.
∎ To provide appropriate and timely advice to the Senior consultant of Intensive Care on anaesthesia/intensive care matters to ensure the maintenance of professional standards of anaesthesia/intensive care and to promote appropriate service development.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Preferably two years of work experience in ICU/HDU/CCU/Critical care unit/Emergency unit/Anaesthesia department.
∎ Knowledge and experience with working in medical emergencies or humanitarian crisis will be added advantages.
∎ Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
∎ Ability to work independently under minimal supervision;
∎ Proficient in the English language
