Responsibilities & Context:

We are seeking a highly skilled CLO3D Technical Designer to bridge the gap between cutting-edge body scanning technology and bespoke physical tailoring. In this role, you will take custom 3D body scans of individual clients, import them into CLO3D to create custom avatars, develop digital garments fitted precisely to that avatar, and extract production-ready 2D patterns for our physical tailoring team to stitch.

You must understand both the digital software environment and traditional physical pattern-making principles. If you only know how to make 3D renders but do not understand seam allowances, fabric ease, and physical construction, this role is not for you.

Core Responsibilities

  • Avatar Creation: Import custom 3D body scan files (OBJ/FBX) into CLO3D and configure them into workable, accurate custom mannequins.

  • Digital Draping & Fitting: Digitally draft, drape, and fit garments to the custom avatar, adjusting for appropriate ease, tension, and fabric physics.

  • Pattern Extraction: Convert the fitted 3D garment into accurate 2D digital patterns (DXF/AAMA format or PDF).

  • Tailor Collaboration: Add proper seam allowances, notches, and grainlines to the 2D patterns to ensure our local tailors can cut and sew the garment perfectly on the first try.

  • Troubleshooting: Work closely with the physical tailor to adjust digital base patterns based on physical fitting feedback.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in CLO3D (or equivalent software like Browzwear/VStitcher, provided you can transition to CLO3D).

  • Strong foundation in traditional 2D pattern making, grading, and garment construction.

  • Experience working with custom measurements rather than standard sizing blocks.

  • Understanding of fabric properties (stretch, weight, drape) and how they translate from digital simulation to physical reality.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Bonus/Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience working with 3D body scanning apps (e.g., Polycam, Bellus3D, or similar).

  • Experience in bespoke/custom-made apparel rather than mass production.
