Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Contribute to unit planning and/or policy decisions;
∎ Inspect returned books for condition and due-date status, and compute any;
∎ Send out notices and process fine payments for lost or overdue books, maintain records of overdue, lost books, and fines;
∎ Sign the clearance form of passed-out-students for library clearance;
∎ Check books and materials in and out to students and teachers using the computerized circulation system;
∎ Monitor student use of the library;
∎ Process and maintain periodical files, assist in ordering and processing of new materials and equipment and maintain library bar-codes;
∎ Implement and make use of library software such as DSpace, KOHA and others for the implementation of a digital library;
∎ Promote the usage of e-library and other software;
∎ Assist in maintaining the appearance of the library;
∎ Organize the training of teachers and students in the use of the online catalog and databases and assist them in the operation of equipment;
∎ Preparing work orders;
∎ Participate as an effective member of committees and teams, primarily within the unit Commit resources within a well-defined area, make recommendations for action;
∎ Communicate within and outside the library with a wide range of clients, including library and university faculty, staff, and students, colleagues, vendors, and individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and information needs;
∎ Prepare, store, and retrieve classification and catalog information, lecture notes, or other information related to stored documents, using computers;
∎ Establish membership in professional organizations and attend professional conferences or workshops;
∎ Support in developing professional identity and an appropriate level of technical competency of the library staff.
∎ Displays supervisory skills with student associates and library staff working on well-defined tasks and projects;
∎ Organize briefing sessions on library, e-library and Blackbox services every semester for the student and faculty members;
∎ In addition to the above, you may be asked to perform other duties, as and when the need arises.

∎ The Assistant Librarian at EDU Central Library plays a crucial role in supporting the operational, administrative, and technical functions of the library. The position requires collaboration with faculty, students, and staff to facilitate access to resources, maintain library systems, and ensure an enriching library experience for all users.
