∎ At least 3 year(s)
Job Context:
∎ In ophthalmology, anesthesia is very broad, ranging from the anesthetic eye drops used in clinic to the sedation, analgesia of cataract, other surgery and finally to the general anesthesia that may be used for strabismus or retinal surgery. Achieving this wide range of goals may require multiple classes of medications for anxiolytic, muscle relaxation, analgesia and loss of awareness.

∎ The incumbent anesthesiologist will pay close attention to the patient`s well-being by monitoring blood pressure, breathing, heart rate, and body temperature throughout surgery. It is also the anesthesiologist`s responsibility to position the patient properly so that the surgeon can perform the surgery and the patient remains uninjured. The incumbent will control the patient`s temperature, cooling or heating different parts of the body during surgery.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Supervise patients and monitor their pain medications before, during and after surgery; offset adverse complications or reactions; record amount and type of anesthesia as well as the patients' conditions throughout procedures.
∎ Manage anesthesiological services and coordinate with other professionals to formulate procedures and plans; direct the duties of medical technicians, nurses and other healthcare support staff.
∎ Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and possible complications; instruct on different ways to prevent disease and improve health.
∎ Evaluate patients to determine an accurate anesthetic plan.
∎ Determine and administer the appropriate dosage of anesthesia during procedures.
∎ Coordinate with other doctors, nurses, technicians and other health care professionals.
∎ Complete records of type and amount of anesthesia, patient condition, patient response and medical histories.
∎ Monitoring patients' vital signs during procedures.
∎ Manage the emergency situations that occur during local anesthesia/GA.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 03 years of experience in Paediatric anesthesia
∎ Preferably woman and ophthalmic anesthesiologist
∎ Ability to stand for long periods of time
∎ Excellent communication skills
